The VeloNorth Event Series is being sponsored by Icycle Sport. There will be grand prizes given at the last event in the series the Tour de Whitehorse. More information to come.
This calendar gives an overview of many of the local events planned for this coming cycling season. VeloNorth's events are highlighted
Participation in VeloNorth's time trials will be free, all you need is to be a member of VeloNorth (membership is free this year) and have insurance (you'll have to pay for that :-) )

May 11 - Wednesday - Icycle Sport Carcross Cut-Off Time Trial (17 km)
Location: Junction of Alaska Highway and South Klondike
Registration: 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Race Start: 7:00 p.m.
General Information:
- Time Trial format. Riders start at 30 second intervals. No drafting is allowed
- Distance: 17 km on an out and back course.
- Event starts just south of the junction of Alaska Highway and South Klondike and goes south 8.5 km. Riders will then cross the road and return to the start.
- The course is open to traffic and riders will make the turn at the half-way point when it is safe to do so after having looked in both directions. A timer will record the length of time it took to cross the road safely and finish times will be adjusted accordingly.
- You must have insurance through the Governing Body and be a member of VeloNorth (no fee to join)
- There is no entry fee

Location: Junction of North Klondike and Takhini River Road
Registration: 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Race Start: 7:00 p.m.
General Information:

Location: Junction of the North Klondike and Dyea Road in Skagway
Registration: 10:30 a.m. Yukon Time and ends at 11:15 a.m. Yukon Time
Race Start: 11:30 noon Yukon Time (10:30 a.m. Alaska Time)
General Information:
- Group Start
- Distance: 19 km
- Event starts at the junction of the Dyea Road and North Klondike
- The course is open to traffic and riders will climb to the Summit of White Pass
- You must have insurance through the Governing Body and be a member of VeloNorth (no fee to join)
- There is no entry fee

- If you are returning to the start you must have your passport to re-enter the US

Melissa "Missy" Giove
Missy forged the path for mainstream professional downhill mountain bikers around the globe. A serious force of nature, Missy (42) did not earn her nickname The Missile for nothing.

Jane Eccles
In 2005, a few days after giving birth, Jane and her family were told she had just hours to live. She had contracted Necrotising Fasciitis (NF) and it was very quickly ripping through her body.
Thankfully their prognosis was not correct, but for Jane this was only the first battle of many. Extensive surgery was required to get rid of the NF, one which involved the removal of her abdominal muscles. As she lay in intensive care, it was becoming clear that her physical ability would never be the same again.

Tara Llane
Tara Liane's incredible story is not one of how she became paralyzed crashing in a downhill mountain bike race back in 2007 but rather one of determination, drive and the positivity.
The four-time national bike champion may have lost the use of her legs but she is living proof that you can always come back fighting and if you have the will, energy and competitive spirit can help you to achieve what others would deem impossible.

Eileen Gray
One of the pioneers and champions of women's racing is Eileen Gray. It's a name that might not be familiar to many, but the incredible vision and hard work of this woman made a significant contribution to establishing women's cycle racing on the national and international stage.
